iPod Photo

dear lord (who art in heaven),

please hook a brotha up with one of these.

it looks pretty sweet, and can sync with your iphoto libraries (which i had ditched a while ago. iphoto generally sucks, but hopefully with the new ipod, it’ll get a major revision) and adobe album/elements albums… or with a specificed folder.

unfortunately it uses itunes to sync your photos. kinda silly… why use itunes to sync photos? the answer, i believe is they’re making it accessible to the windows crowd. there is no windows version of iphoto (which would be the preferable application to copy your iphoto albums to your ipod) nor is there a windows isync…

secondly, there’s still no direct way to import your photos from your camera.

so.. yeah.

another cool thing is it makes use of the album covers embedded in the audio files if you have them. i avoiding them for a long time. but i decided to go with them, with quicksilver/growl/sofa solution. quicksilver sends notifications of song changes in itunes. growl is used to display it (complete with album art), and sofa to do the dirty work of finding the album art and embedding them into the mp3s.

here’s a screenshot… i know you’re all dying to know what it looks like. usually i’ll hide the itunes window. i keep sofa on all my desktops so if i wanted to know what was playing i could just look.. even though i think i’ll hide that too. i have triggers set in quicksilver for prev, play/pause, and next track as well as one that will pop up the notification to show whats playing… so.. yeah, i think i’ll hide sofa while i’m at it…

anyway, lord, if you’re still listening… please tell apple to integrate importing of photos directly, no third party, and be sure it will display the newly imported photos and be able sync them onto the computer if/when connected…

amen.
